The Shipibo Shaman traditional way of working with Ayahuasca
Caya Shobo’s Maestros and Onanya Healers have dedicated their lives to learning and working with the healing powers of the medicine of Ayahuasca and the Amazonian master plant spirits. Whereas Ayahausca provides the shamans with ‘access’ to the spiritual world of the plants, it is other master ‘teacher plants’ that have been identified over thousands of years of shamanic investigation by the Shipibo people that are applied to actually treat and transform sickness and develop shamanic knowledge. This transformational ancient knowledge, gained through years of devoted study and rigorous disciplined dieting is what gives Caya Shobo’s Amazonian Shamans the enhanced ability to assess and enhance a participants’ emotional and physical wellbeing.
After the first ceremony has taken place, plant dieta is personally prescribed for each individual’s particular healing needs and intentions. The optimal plant/s are chosen for each guest by the Shipibo shamans according to their ‘vision’ during Ayahuasca ceremony plus their extensive knowledge of the Amazonian plant medicine pharmacopeia. Some of the common master plants that are often prescribed in a 21 day Intensive Dieta retreat include Pinon Blanco, Bobinsana, Ajo Sacha, Marosa, and many other master plants known by the Shipibo for their remarkable healing and shamanic teaching capabilities.

In the beginning, once the plant dieta has been established and opened, the energies associated with the plant dieta may be experienced by guests as different sensations arising in the body or mind. Or they may receive guidance in their dreams and ceremonial experiences of important aspects of the healing journey. For others the dieta process is more subtle and it can take multiple diets to fully ‘open’ a conscious awareness of how the master plants are working at transforming and evolving a dieter’s integrated system.
It is common for many participants to at least start to better understand and comprehend the root causes of some of their challenges or physical and mental ailments as sickness and confusion is being cleared from their system. The path of healing with plants is slow, but gradually, as participants continue to build their relationship with their dieta plant/s, a deeper sense of progress and resolution of old patterns is often experienced, with a renewed strength and outlook on life emerging.
A 21 Day Intensive Dieta Retreat is particularly helpful for more serious health concerns
Usually a 21 day Intensive Dieta retreat experience is excellent for guests struggling with high stress levels, or more serious health/emotional-related challenges such as anxiety, depression or chronic physical conditions.
A longer Plant Dieta allows more time for settling into the powerful healing and nurturing energy of the Amazon rainforest, and also for the energy of the master plants to penetrate more deeply into the dieter’s body’s organs and cells, as well as into the deeper levels of the psyche. Extended dieta is always more effective at clearing long-held negative patterns or behaviours, as well as providing a more thorough physical cleansing. There is greater opportunity for increasing overall health and vitality through the detoxification and energetic reconfiguration process of the master plants, and for accessing the more advanced learnings on the path of shamanic apprenticeship.
All-Inclusive
With up to 12 Ayahuasca ceremonies, personalized master plant dieta and everything provided for you; including WI-FI access, dieta-friendly prepared food, flower baths, plant medicines as well as continued support from our highly experienced plant medicine facilitators; you can fully relax and immerse yourself in the retreat experience.
It is important to us that our guests have the ability to focus on their own personal journey, so as to receive maximum benefits from the experience without having to worry about the everyday concerns they might have at home.
Allowing participants to feel safe and fully supported in this way enhances the physical and emotional benefits of this ancient medicine tradition and increases the likelihood of transitioning well back into Western society.
Full integration, ongoing care and support
Clients are encouraged to attend various workshops or talks held during the retreat to learn more from the Maestros and facilitators during the healing process and to minimise time outside the retreat to ensure the protection of the Plant Dieta. Engaging in workshops, asking questions about the dieta process, and respecting the medicine in this way enables for a much more thorough understanding and comprehension of the Shipibo tradition.
To assist with supportive physical therapies during your 21-day Intensive Plant Dieta retreat we also have Shipibo trained massage therapists on site.
